Bricks are a blessing for some and a curse for others.
Depending on your style of decor and also the type of brick, there is no telling how they might be received.
When we first bought our home, I was confronted by exterior bricks and I wasn’t too happy about them. We ended up planting to mostly cover them up and then trying to tie in what you could still see by matching the gate color to the color of the bricks. Decent enough.
But honestly, after seeing how easy this DIY is, I may do this now…

I think if this is something some one is considering, I would hope that they think it through and are not devaluing the home. Also there is ugly brick and beautiful brick please don’t ruin something that is already beautiful and full of character.
Awesome,love it

who doesn’t know how to WhiteWash Brick???
After i whitewashed mine, I darkened the color of the concrete between the bricks. Really made a difference.
Um, a lot of people!
And its very trial and error. Trying to find the color you want. This takes many paint samples, bricks that come close to matching what you have and dilution amounts. You can’t just get white paint and dilute.
I love this idea, would look good on my fireplace.
Looks like a bad paint job

Nope…don’t like it. I like the natural brick color better.
YUCK ..WHAT A MESS ..
maybe if it was diluted more, so more of the natural color shows through, or a different color that would blend with the natural color better, or as somebody else mentioned …. to paint the mortar between a different color to represent contrast …. but this way just looks all sloppy and washed up!

I have a wall of white washed brick in my house and I love it! It gave a complete new look to a room I had grown tired of.
So not a fan of painted bricks, plus I’m married to a bricklayer and he would not approve!
I like this look!!
Yuk!
Really think that brick just needed to be washed…
I would only consider this on brick that was ugly with no character. Never over beautiful one with lots of natural character.

That’s ugly. Why dull up the brick? Yuck!

NO! Don’t ruin your natural brick! That’s like painting over beautiful woodwork.
Me.
Monica Bell I guess we were ahead of the times we did this on the barn walls.
I’m with you guys! I do not like this at all! Brick is known to be easy maintenance. Won’t be any longer with this done to it and you sure can’t get it off.
And who wants it white?? Not me. I like mine the way it is.
