A small kitchen is something that so many of us have to contend with.  Luckily, there are SO MANY creatives solutions to create space where there was none and to organize lots of stuff into an area too tiny to hold it all.

I have listed out just three of my favorite “small kitchen” hacks on the next page and I hope that one of them–or more than one–is perfect for you!

    This is a very old idea, it was used back in the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s when homes were much smaller, and many had just a galley kitchen, with a pantry. We had this in our pantry.

  2. My husband framed some and put it in my sewing room. Now my scissors, rulers, and all the notions are right there and ready to grab when needed!

  9. Mine has been hanging in my pantry for over 10 years. I bought the pastic pegboard and painted it to match my pantry….works like a charm.

  12. We had pegboard in our kitchen when we moved in 43 years ago, as there were almost no cupboards. We took it out eventually and put cupboards in.

    I have one on the wall behind my extra bedroom door and it hangs all my necklaces and I have the baskets on the bottom to hold my bracelets. At a glance I can see all my jewelry and it’s out of sight.

    I have a 4 ft. by 4 ft. pegboard above my stove & coffee center. Don’t know what I’d do without it. So many things I hang on it are too bulky to store in cabinets & drawers.

    Pegboard is much more versatile if cut into strips before using. No wasted space. 🙂

    no room in my kitchen for one but I did have one in my sewing room at one time

  28. In the late 1960’s, my kitchen was very small and I did this to have a place for my cookware. Works great!

  29. My Dad put one in my bedroom back in the “60’s” and I hung stuffed animals all over it. I later had a couple in my home they are great for all kinds of things! Can’t get any cheaper that’s for sure!

  30. When I was in college the bedroom I had had pegboard in it. it was cool to hang things up on it.

    In my kitchen the shelves were to small for all my pot and pans and utensiles so i put up hooks for all of them and it works so well no looking through draws for all these cooking items.

  34. Regarding spice storage – I wonder if the refrigerator will generate too much heat which goes against recommendations I’ve read about storing herbs and spices. Looks like a great idea for other types of storage.

  39. My mom made me one of these years ago when I had a kitchen with very few drawers. Later, I cut it down in size to accommodate the small kitchen I have have now (that was 30 years ago) and still use it today.

    I Have always had this concern with the SPICE RACK next to the fridge.. Isn’t the heat off the fridge bad for your spices. I always thought it better to keep spices cool. Not IN fridge but in a place away from extra heat.

  43. My mom had one just like it, blue too in her kitchen for the same purpose for many yrs.

  44. I did this when I moved into my house 32 years ago! Only had one drawer, so hung all of my utensils there.
