10 Genius Ideas To Make Moving So Much Easier + The Fastest Way To Pack Up a Closet

1. Pack your kitchen breakable dishes in clothes to avoid breaking and save on bubble wrap.

2.  Uncover toiletry bottles and cover in saran wrap, then put the caps back on.  This is a great travel tip, too!

3. Don’t unpack dresser drawers.  Instead, cover them in Press N’ Seal to keep all your items in tact and load them in the truck that way.  This, along with #6 will get your closet packed in no time at all.

4. Use sandwich bags to pack and organize small parts of things that are being dismantled such as curtains, cribs or mounted flat-screen TV’s.  Label the bags and tape them to the back of the items they belong to.

5. Take photos of how your electronics are connected to make re-connecting easier.

6.  Don’t take your clothes off the hangers!  Put a large trash bag around them and call it a day.  This is not the most beautiful, but it is certainly the fastest way to pack a closet!

7. If you are renting, protect your deposit by taking pictures of your old place moving out and your new place before you move in.  Take extra care to photograph everything that is not perfect so that you are not responsible for anything you didn’t do.

9. Change your address 2 weeks before you move. This may seem obvious for the things like cable and utilities but you also have Amazon deliveries, credit cards, magazines etc.  If you get this done early you may manage to not miss a beat with the mail.  You also won’t be mired down in address changes when you need to unpack in your new place.

10. Remember to empty and defrost your refrigerator at least a day before you move and wipe up any liquid.  Be mindful of your last trip to the grocery store before moving and don’t buy anything perishable that you won’t be able to finish off before you need to defrost.
