According to apairandasparediy:
Materials:
- a ladder
- pine planks cut to incremental sizes, I went for two at 1.2m (48 inches), then 1m (40 inches), 80cm (30 inches) and 60cm (23 inches) for the top.
- L brackets (2 x the number of planks you have)
- Screws
- A drill
You are basically going to lay the boards over the rungs of the open ladder and screw them down so that the shelves are secure. SIMPLE!

You can use this for decorative shelving in any room:

Or even for a more practical purpose:

Either way, this is simple, practical and looks great! A stain would make a huge difference and I would recommend that, as well.
What is the most creative thing you have ever seen a ladder used for? Please tell us about it.
Thank you to apairandasparediy for this great idea, tutorial and pics! See their site for more on this.
