It's WISE to DIY: Thrify Ideas for the Do-It-Yourselfer

She Made Over This $3 Thrift Shop Chair With A Sweet Surprise On The Back!

She started with this $3 chair:

Before-682x1024

She removed the ugly plastic cushion, sanded it down, and painted.

Since the chair was already old and distressed, she took a sanding block and sanded down a few areas to give it a shabby chic look.  Then, she personalized the chair by using acrylic paint and stencils to add the year she married her husband on the back.

Such a cute surprise on the back!

Finally, she recovered the cushion with the same fabric on her ironing board and voila!

When you see how easy this is and how much money you can save, it’s really a no-brainer, right?  I think I’ll end off on trying to find the right chairs on-line and head over to my local Good Will this week instead.

Thank you to thewoodgraincottage for this great article inspo and wonderful pics!  See her site for more on this project and for deets on how she upholstered the seat cover.
