He Throws 4 Ikea Table Legs On A Pallet and Has An Instant Desk!

If you can get a hold of a nice pallet and 4 sturdy legs from Ikea, you can put them together easily and have a desk that is super cool and has tons of storage inside (without constructing even one drawer!)

For all the deets on how to make this project, see instructables.  They will walk you right through it over there.  (FYI, the VIKA legs they recommend from Ikea do not seem to be on the Ikea site any longer but you can certainly pick a different set.)
