He started with a plain-jane table and his tools.
He had the idea that he wanted a fully-functional Monopoly board on it so he made his plans, penciled them out and started carving. This is the part where he almost broke his fingers:
The wood burner was used to burn out the carvings and give them a cool and permanent look:
Next came the art work. Clearly this guy is a artist. Look at how he pimped-out this ride!
All that was left was varnish and to stand back and admire his work:
It is really gorgeous when you see it close up. The detail is quite extraordinary!
