You can just get some cork board from the craft store and throw it up on the wall. On the other end of the spectrum, you can do a very involved project to elevate the plain cork board using any number of supplies ranging from frames to scrapbook paper, glitter and Mod Podge.
I really liked this happy-medium where you simply give the boards a nice coat of paint and call it a day.
